Exciting news: I just found out that I will be traveling on the 39th Contingent of the Venceremos Brigade this summer. VB is a solidarity organization that has been visiting Cuba through Canada each year in protest of the embargo. I am thrilled! I have always wanted to return to Cuba as a brigadista, and given the changing political situation these days, I knew I had to go this year. The world and I have both changed a lot since the summer of 2001 - I am curious to see the country with new eyes. I won't approach Cuba with the same naivete as I did when I was sixteen, yet I am still open to its possibilities.
